Ek Islam
I am feeling Happy
Happiness is a blessing that comes from Allah Almighty. Every person experiences happiness at some point in life – upon hearing good news, meeting a loved one, or achieving a goal. But Islam not only teaches us to feel happiness, it also teaches us the correct way to express it.
---
💭 1. What should I do when I feel happy?
When you are happy, first of all:
- Thank Allah – from the heart and with your tongue.
- Offer Salah or pray Nawafil (voluntary prayers).
- Share your happiness with others, but avoid showing off (riya).
- Give charity – helping others during happiness is one of the best deeds.
- Pray that this happiness remains and may everyone be blessed with it.
---
📖 2. What does Allah say about happiness?
Allah Almighty says in the Qur'an:
> "La'in shakartum la'azeedannakum."
“If you are grateful, I will surely increase you.”
— (Surah Ibrahim 14:7)
This verse gives a direct message – the first response to happiness should be gratitude. When we thank Allah, He increases our blessings.
---
🕋 3. The saying of the Prophet ﷺ – What did the Prophet ﷺ say?
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
> "Ajaban li amril mu’min! Inna amrahu kullahu lahu khayr."
“How amazing is the affair of the believer! Everything is good for him. If he experiences happiness, he is grateful, and that is better for him.”
— (Sahih Muslim)
This means a believer remains connected to Allah in all situations – in both joy and sorrow. Expressing gratitude during happiness is a Sunnah.

🤲 4. Duas to recite during happiness
✅ 1. Alhamdulillah (الحمد لله)
The very first word when you feel happiness – you should say “Alhamdulillah.”
✅ 2. "اللهم لك الحمد كما ينبغي لجلال وجهك وعظيم سلطانك"
Transliteration: Allahumma lakal hamdu kama yanbaghi li-jalali wajhika wa azimi sultanik
Meaning: “O Allah, all praise is due to You in a manner befitting Your Majesty and Great Authority.”
✅ 3. Dua for Barakah
> “Allahumma barik lana fima a’ataytana”
“O Allah, bless what You have given us.”
---
💡 5. Sunnah and Recommended Acts during happiness
Voluntary Prayer (Shukrana Salah)
When something good happens, you may offer 2 rak’ahs of voluntary prayer as gratitude.
Giving Charity
Giving something to someone in need – even a small sweet or money – during happiness is Sunnah.
Involving your parents, friends, or family
The Prophet ﷺ never kept his happiness to himself. He would invite people or give gifts to share his joy.
---
🧠 6. Avoid expressing happiness the wrong way
In Islam, showing off (riya), pride (fakhr), and humiliating others is forbidden. If during happiness we do things like:
- Posting flashy photos on Instagram
- Hurting others’ feelings
- Expressing happiness in a way that makes others feel sad
Then all of this is disliked by Allah. Islam commands every action be done with intention and humility.
---
🎁 7. Happiness is not only about worldly things
Islam teaches that "True happiness is the one that brings you closer to Allah." Worldly happiness is temporary – but if Allah is remembered in that happiness, it becomes eternal.
Some spiritual joys:
- Being a cause for someone’s guidance
- Receiving the prayer of a poor person
- Remembering Allah even in your sorrow
---
🌷 8. Another Sunnah during happiness: Istighfar
Yes – when you feel happy, saying Astaghfirullah is also important. So that pride doesn’t enter the heart.
> "Astaghfirullah Rabbi min kulli zambiyon wa atoobu ilayh."
---
📚 9. Real-life example: The happiness of the Prophet ﷺ
When the Conquest of Makkah happened – the greatest victory – the Prophet ﷺ neither danced nor beat drums. Instead, he fell into prostration of gratitude and said:
> "La ilaha illallah wahdahu la sharika lahu..."
His happiness was in worship and gratitude. This is an example for all of us.
---
📌 10. A memorable reminder
If you are happy today, tomorrow could be someone else’s turn. Always keep humility, gratitude, and humanity alive in your joy. In Islam, happiness is not just something to feel – it is something to share.
---
✅ Conclusion – When happiness comes, remember all this:
- Be grateful
- Make dua
- Give charity
- Follow Sunnah acts
- Avoid showing off
- Don’t forget Istighfar
> “Happiness is a gift from Allah – make it a mercy for yourself and for others.”
